Violins may be purchased from the Sargent Violin Shoppe, or you may rent a violin for $35.00 a month with the rental fees going towards the purchase when you are ready to buy. We give a 10% discount to students and members of community orchestras.
Factory made student violin packages, including bow, case, rosin, tuner and micro-cloth. These are in the $150 to $300 range.
S1 Student Grade
Violins made, finished and set up by Peter Sargent using "China in the white". There is little to no flaming on these instruments, and they come with standard fittings and steel strings. $600 to $800 range.
Violins by other makers. Made and fully finished by violin makers in China, Germany, England and Australia. $300 to 500 range.
S2 Student Upgrade
Violins made, finished and set up by Peter Sargent using "China in the white." These have slight flaming, moderate fittings, better strings and are re-graduated. $800 to $900 range.
Violins by other makers. Violins made by violin makers in the United States, Europe and China and finished, re-graduated adjusted for best sound by Peter Sargent. $500 to $600 range.
S3 Advanced Student
Violins made, finished and set up by Peter Sargent using "China in the white." These have better flaming, better workmanship and upgraded fittings and strings for superior sound. $900 to $1,100 range.

O1 Orchestra Grade
Made, finished and set up by Peter Sargent using the best Chinese wood in the white, with lots of flaming, re-gradation and better (non-onamental) fittings and strings. $1,100 to $1,200 range.

The best of everything. Made, finished and set up by Peter Sargent using Chinese in the white, the best re-graduating and ornamental fittings, as well as the best strings available. $1,200 to $1,400 range.

Made, finished and set up by Peter Sargent using wood in the white supplied by John Juzik (best aged German spruce and maple), Simeon Chambers (best American spruce and maple), and/or European sources of superior wood. They are carefully re-graduated and have the best in everything, producing superior tone. $1,400 to $1,700 range.
